Brand new laptop, erazer beast 16 x1 ultimate with ultra i9 processor and RTX 5080 GPU - solid piece of kit with great spec but AE just won't cooperate. I've uninstalled and reinstalled AE several times, I've tried BETA version also. I've disabled hardware acceleration, cleared cache over and over. Checked Audio settings, updated drivers GPU, tried game and studio. I've reset my laptop thats 2 days old back to factory 3 times. Stupid AE just won't act normally for more than 5 minutes, I can still click around and switch between assets but the preview panel just stays the same, stuck on whatever last frame it was on before freezing up. It's been 2 days of total wasted work time and I am at my wits end. EVERY OTHER PROGRAM WORKS FINE!

PLEASE HELP

Update for anyone else who's curious. I tried changing to an older version and it worked??
still some weird lag issues in AE but it could be from me opening a fully finished project and it having to re render everything. Frame render time is getting lower and now is basically real time. Before changing versions it was 900ms + with frequent crashing and vanishing solid layers LOL

THANK YOU CHRIS

Thanks! I'm gonna try it today and I'll let you know if it worked for me as well. I edit for work so this really sucks. Starting to think premiere has the same issue because it's taking way too long to render files.

Hi mate - will being pushed to complete projects and zero reply from adobe I found a work around that will work for you... I chose to install an older version of after effects from the creative cloud. I think I installed the very first 2025 version and didnt get the issue. Seems whatever adobe has done with the latest updates isn't compatible with the hardware acceleration of the latest RTX cards... good old adobe hey.

I'm having the same issues. I'm also on a 5080 laptop. Did you find a fix?
