Preview window not updating

My preview window in AE won't update. For the first 15 seconds it works just fine, but then stops updating. The entire program, however, acts like I can still interact with objects in the projects, such as zoom, render quality, layer selection, and every other layer property, but the preview doesn't update.

I have a 5070 Ti and 16 gb of ram. As far as I can see, all drivers and software is 100% up to date.

Hi @leslie_c3 , can you please post a screen recording of what's happening? This will help us get a better idea of what's actually happening.

 

A few other questions:

  1. When did this start happening, with just this project, after a software update, or something else?
  2. What exact version of AE you're running, not just the year, but the whole version number from Help > About After Effects.
  3. As for your driver, are you running the latest Studio or Game-ready driver? The Studio drivers work best for Adobe applications, so please check that you're running the latest version from this month.

Yes, I've tried all of these. I've even uninstalled AE and reinstalled it.

Thanks for the message. Have you tried any common troubleshooting steps yet? 

The preview window in After Effects not updating after 15 seconds is a known issue that can have several causes. Common fixes include:

- Purging all memory and disk cache (Edit > Purge > All Memory & Disk Cache).
- Restarting After Effects and your computer.
- Resetting After Effects preferences (hold Ctrl+Alt+Shift while launching After Effects).
- Checking audio hardware settings and switching between device classes (MME/ASIO).
