Project created in AE 22.6 won't open in AE 23.0.0 after being downloaded from Dropbox.

I updated all my Adobe apps as I was between projects, then got a request from my client to update a project created a few months ago. After downloading the collected project from Dropbox I tried opening it in the latest 23.0.0 build of After Effects. Every single embedded .MOV file gave an error "this MooV file is damaged or unsupported." I rebooted, etc and nothing worked, having to repeatedly click OK for the dozens of footage files over and over. Tried reimporting but the same error.

Strangely the same project will open fine in both the 2022 build as well as the latest Beta (23.2.0 Build 9) with no error messages for the footage.

I know there are ongoing issues with Dropbox and M1 Macs, but I'm wondering why this seems to be specific to 23.0.0?

Hi @jackthegiantkiller,

Thanks for reporting this issue. It's possible that a corrupted Media Cache could cause this error. Try using "Clean Database & Cache" in Preferences > Media & Disk Cache, then see if the projects will open without the MooV errors.

Caches are restricted to a single version, so that would explain why you are able to import the files in both the 2022 and Beta versions. It is also possible that there was an issue in the 23.0 version that is now fixed in the Beta, so you might try updating to 23.1 to see if the issue is fixed with that version as well.

Thanks for reporting this issue and for any further information you can provide,
