RAM problem with AE version 23.3

Since I bought a new MacBook (M1 Max 32gb) working with Aftereffects is just annoying. Everything is super bumpy and since today I can only play 5 frames in the preview. I opened a project that was running ok on my MacBook from 2016 and wanted to continue working on it - but unfortunately nothing works now.

This problem has been discussed in the forums several times and the new update 23.3 was pointed out, which should solve the problem. I have made the update - unfortunately, there was no improvement and the problem still occurs... I now had to downgrade to version 21.1.1 so that I can continue to work. It runs now, but still worse than on my Macbook from 2016!!! I am really disappointed.

That sounds nasty. I also read more reports on this.

I am running AE 23.3.0 on a Mac Studio Ultra on macOS Monterey 12.6.4 and I don't have this problem, so maybe it's Ventura related?

Just for the check, I'm sure you tried most or all this already, but some setting to look at are:

- turn off Multi-Frame rendering (Memory & Performance)

- disable disk cache (Media & Disk Cache)

- turn off Mercury Transmit (Video Preview)

- turn off hardware accelerated decoding (Import)

- turn off harware accelerated panels (Display)

- make sure Cache Frames When Idle is off (Composition>Preview>)

- Turn off Mercury GPU Acceleration (Project Settings)

- make sure After Effects has the propper access in the Security & Privacy Preference pane in System Preferences (or is it Settings on Ventura?) like Disk Access, Files and Folders, Screen Recording

If there is any setting changes that make any difference to this problem then that might help Adobe figure out how to fix it.
