Right-click on the tools panel does not work

I have been using Adobe products for about 5 months and I am concerned about the question why the right mouse click to select a tool does not work? It works correctly in Photoshop, Illustrator but does not work in AE. This did not happen today or yesterday, it has not worked all this time. Is this a problem with my laptop or does it need to be enabled somewhere in the settings?

    Have you tried Control/Click just to make sure that the right click is set up on your Operating System?

    it works in Illustrator. Right-click and through the "control" key. It also works in Photoshop. But SOMEWHAT doesn't work in AE and Premiere. It's like the software is from different vendors

    Do you mean option/alt click to toggle between sub-tools/hidden tools?  That works in After Effects, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and Premiere.

    No, no auxiliary keys. Just a single click - the right mouse button. This should bring up a list of hidden tools, as it does in Photoshop and Illustrator. But for some reason, it doesn't work in AE and Premiere.

    Oh, yes.

     

    Option/Alt click cycles through them in all the apps, but Control click to reveal them all does not.  And yes, that’s a little weird.  Click and hold should work in all of them for revealing the corresponding set of tools.


    What you’ve spotted would make a great feature request for After Effects and Premiere.  If you post them, please link back to them here and I’ll upvote them.

    There’s a bit of a long list of little things we could use for consistency across the applications like how modifier keys for text entry behaves, how guides behave, different options in the Color Picker dialog box, how “open with” for linked files behaves, how continuing to draw a Bezier Path behaves, and so on.
