Scene Edit Detection with "Create Pre-comps": wrong In/Out points inside pre-comps when Project Settings > Footage Start Time is set to 0
ISSUE
When Layer > Scene Edit Detection is run with "Split Layer at Scene Edit" and "Create Pre-comps" enabled, and the project's Time Display Style > Footage Start Time is set to "00:00:00:00", the footage layer inside every pre-comp except the first one gets wrong In/Out points.
The In point is placed at the very start of the layer instead of at the start of the detected shot. The Out point is placed at In + shot duration. The trimmed range therefore covers the wrong part of the source.
The rendering engine ignores these in and out points. Sequence rendering continues beyond its out point !!!
With Footage Start Time set to "Use Media Source", the same steps give correct results.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Project Settings > Time Display Style: select Timecode and set Footage Start Time to (00:00:00:000).
2. Import a video that contains several hard cuts.
3. Create a composition from the footage
4. Select the footage layer and choose Layer > Scene Edit Detection.
5. Enable "Split Layer at Scene Edit" and "Create Pre-comps". Click OK.
6. Open the pre-comps and look at the footage layer's In/Out points in the timeline (show the In/Out columns).
EXPECTED RESULT
In each pre-comp the footage layer is trimmed to its shot.
Nothing is rendered outside the layer's In/Out range.
ACTUAL RESULT
The In/Out points are defined relative to the shot's duration, but measured from the first frame.
Despite this, the sequence renders for the full duration of the pre-compositions, and the image is displayed even though the playhead is positioned past the out point. The problem is only visible inside the pre-comps, but it breaks any later trimming or editing of those layers.
WORKAROUND
Set Project Settings > Time Display Style > Footage Start Time to "Use Media Source" before running Scene Edit Detection. The In/Out points are then correct.
