Separate audio from video preview cache

Something that has started bugging me a lot is that I noticed that moving audio files removes your cached preview data. It seems like they are consolidated into single cache files? This makes it really painful to edit audio timing because every time you move it you need to rerender the composition.

Please make audio independent of video preview data so we do not have this issue.

@Brian C Carter hey,

So I did an isolated test with footage and some heavy effects. The audio does remove the cache every time it's moved to a different position in time, but it's followed by automatic rebuilding of of the cache data and it's very fast. I then went back to the comp that motivated making this post and there the same happens actually but takes much more time, perhaps due to even heavier and more effects and layers there?

I'm not sure why the rebuild is even necessary? The struggle in this process is that you cannot move audio and then immediately start playback because the cache rebuild is slower than realtime 25fps. This is what made me think it was removing video cache initially.

Anything you can say about this?

I see! I'll try to do a quick screencap tomorrow and send you a DM. It's a project I cannot share. If I'm able to reproduce it with some random data I'll post the clip here instead.

Hey Shebbe, moving this to the Bugs section because this shouldn't be happening. Would you be able to send us a video of this occuing and if possible the project and assets?
