Shape Layer Groups taking FOREVER to "ungroup"

1. Bring in SVG data from Figma via Toothpaste script

2. Select top shape group and use the ungroup command

3. wait for up to 10 min for After Effects to "ungroup" the shapes. 

 

I have no idea why this is taking this long, even on simple shape groups. Dragging the shapes out of the group also takes forever.

Just following up here—this fix was released with After Effects 24.6 last year. Thanks again for reporting this!

Hi @Scott.C.,

A fix for this issue is available in the latest public Beta builds of After Effects (build 24.6.0.34 or later). Please let us know if you continue to see any issues with the Shapes built from SVG data in the Beta builds.

    Hi @Scott.C.,

    Thank you for providing that project file. We can reproduce the issue as well and have opened a ticket to investigate what is causing the Shape Group interactions to be so much slower than they were previously.

      Hi @Scott.C.,

      Thank you for reporting this issue. It sounds like perhaps the SVG data added to the Shape layer from Toothpaste is causing an issue inside the Shape Group. Would you be able to send us a project with grouped Shape data from Toothpaste (e.g. step 1 is complete in the saved project) so that we can further investigate?
