Shatter effect not render on MAC M1 Ultra

Hi, I have applied a Shatter effect to some text, when I scrub alone the timeline my 1st Mac crashes. When I render the project in Media Encoder it freezes just before the effect and does not finish. I opened on a second Mac and the same thing happened. On crashing and opening again it asks if I want to disable the shatter effect.

If I open the project on my PC, I can scrub along the timeline and also render, with no issues. I have listed the computer specs below:

1st MAC  / Mac Studio (2022) / Apple M1 Ultra / 128gb running Monterey v12.6.1

2nd MAC / IMac Pro (2017) 2.3gh 18-core intel Xeon W / 64gb / Radeon Pro Vega 56 8gb / Monterey 12.5.1

PC / AMD 5950x / 3080ti graphics / 64gb / windows 11

Any help to resolve the MAC issues would be great, as that is my work computer in my office. The PC is a personal computer.

Hi @brendonf,

Thanks very much for sending the project. We can reproduce the crash as well and have opened a ticket to investigate a fix. Any updates on the ticket will be posted to this thread, and we will let you know if we discover any workaround while investigating.

Thanks again,

- John, After Effects Engineering Team

Sorry, I didn't realise you couldn't share a zip, so here is a dropbox link to a folder with the reduced project in. Link to project

Thank you for your help. I have deleted other sections of the project, but have kept the section with the shatter applied. The shatter is applied twice to text created in a linked illustrator file.

It's possible that "Shatter.plugin" is corrupt.  It is a little strange that it would be corrupt on two machines at the same time, but still possible.

You could try to manually replace it with "Shatter.plugin" from another matching macOS version of After Effects.

Here's the file path for After Effects 2024 for reference:
/Applications/Adobe After Effects 2024/Plug-ins/Effects/Shatter.plugin

Since it's happening to a Text Layer, it could be the font.  If the font was installed from the same installer on both Macs, this would not be so strange.  You could try a different font or re-install the font currently in use.

Can you possibly supply a simple project which reproduces the issue?
