Systematic crash when collecting files if project contains .cd4 file (s)

Please Help!

Our team ( on different machines) can no longer collect files from AE! If there is a .cd4 file in the project the spinning rainbow wheel appears before the collected modal menu and just spins forever.

    Hi all,

    This issue has been fixed in the 23.4 version of After Effects. Please update to the latest version of After Effects and let us know if you continue to experience crashes when collecting files for projects containing .c4d files.

    can confirm that this issue is happening in the Windows version of AE 2023 as well. 2023.2.1. Going to update and see if it resolves.

      A fix for this issue will be available starting in AE 23.4x48 (should be available in the next 24-48 hours on CCD Beta). Thanks again for letting us know about the issue.

      HELLO! I have imported C4D files in AE. I try to collect that file, and it freezes before even opening the Collect dialogue. Upon deleting the C4D files, collection works great. Seems that implementation of C4D file import and the collect protocol is fricked up.

      Welcome to the community and sorry to hear about the crash.

      Are you trying to collect files on a network location? Does it work if you save them to a local location? Are there any error messages or crash report? Also, are there any third-party plug-ins used?

      To isolate the issue we simply put one .CD4 footage file, in one comp. That's it nothing else in the project. No key frames, no animations, no plugins.

      After selecting collect files, the rainbow will appear and we never get to the collect files menu window.  It crashes even before it starts, systematically on 3 different machines (all OSX).

      The files are on local hard drive.

      I was able to reproduce this at my end as well. I am going to report this the devs. I'll share if there's any update.
