the video freezes and when I enter the app it says system error or system adobe after effects engine.

Hi, klajd's suggestion is a good one to try. Transcoding the video to a more AE-friendly codec like ProRes often resolves import-related crashes.

To help figure out what's happening, could you share:

1. Screenshots of the exact error messages you're seeing (both the "system error continue" one and the engine error).

2. Your exact AE version (Help > About After Effects) and macOS version.

3. What format the video is?

4. Does AE crash right at launch every time now, or only when opening the project with that video?
