Too many comps will glitch GUI

Issue:

If the Render Queue window or Project Window contains too many comps, then after you scroll past a certain point then the GUI visuals will freeze or turn black.

Steps to reproduce:

  • Add 1000 comps in the render queue and then try scrolling to the bottom of the Render Queue window. After you scroll past a certain point then the GUI visuals will freeze or turn black.
  • Create 2000 comps within a single folder of the Project window and then try scrolling to the bottom of the Project window. After you scroll past a certain point then the GUI visuals will freeze or turn black.

Note:

The exact amount of comps varies to trigger the bug (perhaps by scene or computer).

Screen capture of the bug in action:

Adobe After Effects version - 26.0.0 (Build 67)

Operating system - Both MacOS 15.7.4 and Windows 11

Does it affect all projects or only some projects? All projects

Does it affect new projects? Yes

When did the problem begin? It's been an ongoing issue for many years.

Unfortunately the current UI framework used in After Effects only supports a panel being 30,000 pixels wide or long. The glitching you see is when the panel content has overflowed that. We are in the process of migrating to a new UI framework which will resolve this but we don’t have an ETA on when that work will be done. Thanks for reporting it though!
