Track Mask only works when viewing at full res v26.30

The viewport needs to be set to FULL res in order to track a mask.

  1. Set viewport to Half res
  2. Import a video
  3. Draw a mask to track.
  4. Track forward

The video will play but the mask will not track.  It needs to be set at full resolution to track.

    Hi @pegeseus & @New Video PRoject,

Thank you both for reporting this issue. A fix is now available in the latest 25.6 Beta builds of After Effects (look for After Effects (Beta) in the Beta section of the Creative Cloud app). If possible, please install the latest Beta and let us know if mask tracking is working when the viewer is not set to Full resolution.

    Thanks again,

    Hi Adobe Support Team,

I am writing to report an issue I encountered in After Effects version 26.3.

Issue Description: When using the Mask Tracker, the mask fails to follow the tracked movement properly once the tracking process is run.

    My Steps:

    1. Create a mask on a layer.

    2. Open the Tracker panel and analyze/track the mask forward or backward.

    3. The mask path does not follow the tracked object correctly during playback.

I would like to point out that this feature was working perfectly fine in version 25.6.6, so it appears to be a regression introduced in the newer release.

    HERE 26.3

    HERE 25.6.6

    Thanks

Hi, I assume this is the same issue I’m seeing as your resolution is set to “half”.  Can you confirm if it works if you set the resolution to Full?

Hi, tracking works only at full resolution. However, in version 25.6.6, it worked at other resolutions as well.

Hi pegeseus, thanks for reaching out.

A couple of things to confirm:

    1. Just to verify, could you confirm your exact AE version (Help > About)? Wanted to check whether you're on 26.3.0 specifically.

    2. Did this work correctly in an earlier version (e.g., 26.2.1)? If so, that confirms this as a 26.3 regression.

    3. Can you try running After Effects in Safe Mode with third-party plug-ins disabled and see if that works?

    Let me know.

    Thanks,

    Nishu

    Hi Nishu,

    1. Yes I’m on 26.3.0- that’s where it’s having issues.
    2. This seems to work without issue on 25.6.6
    3. I tried in Safe mode with 3rd party plugins disabled and had the same results.  Mask tracking does not track at all unless the composition window is set to full resolution.

    Thanks!
