Issue

Trapcode parameter names are blank in the Japanese version of After Effects 26.3, causing existing expressions that reference Trapcode properties to fail.

This issue is not only a UI problem. Because the property names are unavailable, existing expressions referencing Trapcode properties become invalid, making production projects incompatible with the Japanese version of After Effects 26.3.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Launch After Effects 26.3 using the Japanese UI.

  2. Create a new project.

  3. Create a new composition.

  4. Add a Solid layer.

  5. Apply any Trapcode effect (for example, Particular).

  6. Open the Effect Controls panel.

Expected result

All Trapcode parameter names should be displayed correctly, just as they are in After Effects 2025 and in the English version of After Effects 2026.

Existing expressions referencing Trapcode properties should continue to work normally.

Actual result

  • Parameter names in Trapcode effects are blank.

  • This affects multiple Red Giant / Trapcode effects, not only Particular.

  • Expressions that reference Trapcode properties report errors because the referenced property names are unavailable.

  • Existing production projects become unusable in the Japanese UI.

Comparative information

Does it affect all projects?

Yes.

It affects both existing projects and completely new projects.

Does it affect new projects?

Yes.

The issue can be reproduced in a brand-new empty project.

When did the problem begin?

The issue occurs only in After Effects 2026.

After Effects 2025 displays all Trapcode parameter names correctly.

Additional investigation

I performed the following tests:

  • Reinstalled Trapcode 2026.4.1 completely.

  • Performed a clean reinstall after removing the previous installation.

  • Trapcode Designer crash was resolved after the clean reinstall.

  • However, the missing parameter-name issue remains.

  • Switching After Effects to the English UI immediately fixes the problem.

  • The same Trapcode installation works correctly in English.

  • The issue only occurs in the Japanese UI.

This strongly suggests that the problem is related to the interaction between the Japanese After Effects UI and Trapcode's localized interface, rather than the Trapcode installation itself.

Because the English UI works correctly while the Japanese UI does not, this appears to be a localization-specific compatibility issue.
