Wacom Intuos Pro touch gestures (two-finger pan/scroll and pinch-to-zoom) do not work in After Effects on macOS, while the Apple Magic Trackpad works correctly.

After Effects on macOS does not recognize two-finger pan/scroll or pinch-to-zoom gestures from the touch surface of a Wacom Intuos Pro S (PTH-460). The Wacom pen itself works normally.

The same gestures work correctly in After Effects when using an Apple Magic Trackpad. The same Wacom touch gestures also work correctly in other applications on the same Mac.

System

• MacBook Pro 16-inch (Nov 2023), Apple M3 Max, 48 GB RAM

• macOS Tahoe 26.6.2

• Adobe After Effects 26.2.1 (Build 2)

• Wacom Intuos Pro S (PTH-460), Pro Pen 2

• Current Wacom driver, cleanly reinstalled; Wacom Driver Check reports no errors

Steps to reproduce

1. Open a composition/timeline in After Effects.

2. Using an Apple Magic Trackpad, perform a two-finger pan/scroll and pinch gesture. Both work correctly.

3. Without changing the project or After Effects preferences, perform the equivalent gestures on the Wacom Intuos Pro touch surface.

4. Neither two-finger pan/scroll nor pinch-to-zoom is recognized.

5. During repeated testing, After Effects may also become unresponsive and require Force Quit.

Expected result
Wacom two-finger touch should pan/scroll and pinch should zoom, as these gestures do with the Apple Magic Trackpad and in other macOS applications.

Additional controlled tests
I recorded a real-world video showing the devices and my hands while reproducing the issue.

• After Effects + Apple Magic Trackpad: pan/scroll and pinch work correctly.

• After Effects + Wacom Intuos Pro: neither works.

• Keynote 14.5 + the same Wacom: two-finger scroll works, but pinch does not.

• Keynote 15.2.1 + the same Wacom: both scroll and pinch work correctly.

• After Effects via Sidecar: Apple Pencil input together with iPad two-finger pan and pinch works correctly when After Effects is foreground on the iPad display.

• During the recorded After Effects test, the application eventually becomes unresponsive.

Changing After Effects Preferences > Previews > Magnification between Smooth and Legacy does not resolve the problem.

This issue first appeared in my setup around late September/early October 2021 and has persisted across different Wacom hardware, Macs, macOS versions and Wacom driver versions. I even replaced the Wacom tablet in October 2021, with no change.

Given that the same Wacom and current driver provide working touch gestures in other applications, while the Apple Magic Trackpad provides working gestures in After Effects, this appears to be specific to how After Effects on macOS handles Wacom-generated touch/navigation events.

I would be very grateful if the After Effects engineering team could try to reproduce this using a touch-enabled Wacom Intuos Pro on macOS. The Keynote 14.5 vs 15.2.1 comparison may also be useful for investigating differences in application-level handling of Wacom-generated gesture events.
