Imported GLB with animation does not animate in AE

Steps to reproduce:
1. Import this GLB into AE: https://www.filemail.com/d/xyutldhxgdvybez

2. Create a new comp with it by dragging it onto the New Comp icon

3. Choose either of the Actions under the layer's Animation Options

4. Play the comp

Result: No animation

Expected: The torus should animate, as it does when viewed in any other GLB viewer (eg. Windows' 3D Viewer app or any online GLB viewer). Does AE not support animation in GLB files?

Ah, I think that I know what the problem is. It looks like you have Modes toggled on. This causes a bunch of stuff to be hidden in the timeline.

Here's how you fix it. Click on "Toggle Switches / Modes"

That will cause the Switches (and other stuff -- including Animation Name) to be displayed.

Hope that helps.

Best,
Tom

Any update on this issue, I'm using AE 25.1 (Build 68). GLB with animation in layers is not showing the dropmenu in Animation Option. Previously, this works perfectly.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Hey, Paul. The GLB animation that you provided uses is a Morph Target animation. AE does not currently support this type of animation. Possibly down the road.

Hello @jenkmeister17177426 ,

From talking to people on the Blender forum, apparently "the GLB format does not directly support vertex animation (which is what you’re using in the displace modifier) that is done with the Alembic format. However, GLB does support Shape keys, so if you export the animation with those then the displacement animation will work."

https://blenderartists.org/t/glb-gltf-export-cant-bake-modifiers/1527614

Don't know if that's any help?

There was talk, some time ago, of AE supporting Alembic file format...any news on that front yet?

Thanks,

Paul
