Hi, yes Audition 26 makes wat should be an easy peasy job into a nightmare. It looks like a beta version, not ready to be released yet. It is messing up my files, my work too and deeply regret to have uninstalled Au24 and Au 25.

The last sweet event was yesterday. Using AU 26, I opened a file I recorded using a Zoom handheld recorder and began to edit it, then suddenly,  Au26 froze, it was ciclying doing something for a long time, closed by itself and when I opened the file again to work on it,  Audition 26 had done 4 things:
1. it mixed up that file with another one I had on the same SD card, inserting it in the middle of my working file.
2. It deleted the last 5-7 minutes of the original audio file AND
3. It created another one with few seconds of the original one, with a greeting, repeating it in a loop for 29 minutes.
4. There was no back up saved

Now, the initial file has to be on air tomorrow and I am on leave but working, using file recovery applications trying to find any copy on the SD card.
I will try again to chat to a human support person, and see if there is any solution, otherwise, it will make me to have to contact again the interviewee, apologise and see if this person have time to record again the missing part over the phone.

Two weeks ago, something similar to a previous case of corrupting files happened to me. I recorded a number of interviews and had promos and music files using another device, and listened to the files before hand, they were fine. Then I opened the files in Au26 to edit them, first individually and later as part of a multitrack session. Then, the same as you, an error appeared, Au 26 froze, closed and then the files I had opened had the waveform but no sound. It took me the whole night to work on that,as it had to be on air on the morning. That included  hours with an Adobe customer support person who was blaming my system saying that it was my OS, when with Au24 and Au25, it was working fine.
Then I finally got back ups and edited the whole 2 hours programme using multitrack, I listened to it again and it was fine, then exported to a multitrack mixdown. Au 26 made the final mixdown overimposing one file to another.

I do not trust Audition 26 at all, previous AU releases had problems but the ones caused by this one are just a nightmare, costing too many hours of sleep and peace of mind, it is unreliable.

Could you please have a look at this thread and answer the same questions here? Chances are that the new installation has altered something critical. Whilst it’s an outside possibility that this is caused by the OS, I think it’s unlikely. Also, you haven’t said whether this is on a Mac or a PC...
