Bridge deletes the sidecar (.xmp) file associated with a raw file, when a another file (with similar name, but different type) is deleted.

Symptoms: Bridge deletes the sidecar (.xmp) file associated with a raw file, when a another file (with similar name, but different type) is deleted.

Steps to reproduce:

1) Double-click a thumbnail icon in Bridge to open a raw file (example: myFile.nef) in ACR.

2) Make a simple edit with ACR, for example: changing exposure or contrast.

3) Click "Done" to save the change and close the ACR window. Bridge should now show a small graphic superimposed on the thumbnail icon, to indicate that a sidecar file (myFile.xmp) has been created. In Finder, you should see the sidecar file in the same folder as the raw file.

4) Use Bridge to re-open the same raw file in ACR.

5) Click the "Convert and Save" icon (upper right of ACR window) to bring up the "Save Options" dialog.

6) Select a different format (jpg, avif, etc.) to create a new file from the contents of the raw file. Choose the same location as the raw file. Do not make any changes to the file name. Click "Save". The "Save Options" dialog is now closed.

7) Click "Done" or "Cancel" to close the ACR window. Bridge should now show thumbnails for two files with the same name, but different file types (and extensions) in the same folder. For example:

myFile.nef

myFile.jpg

In Finder, you should see:

myFile.nef

myFile.jpg

myFile.xmp

8) Use Bridge to delete the new file that you created (myFile.jpg, not the raw file). You can do this by selecting its thumbnail and then pressing command-delete. Or control-click the thumbnail and choose "Move to Bin" from the popup menu.

The sidecar file is deleted with the new file, even though it was associated with the raw file. In Bridge and Finder you will see only

myFile.nef

If you now re-open the raw file in ACR, your edit(s) are lost.

Note: This issue only occurs when the files share the same name, and only when files are deleted in Bridge. If myFile.jpg is deleted with Finder, the sidecar file is not affected.
