bridge tells me i have reached the time limit every time it opens and sometimes even freezes

I am only aware of the following possibility.

An Adobe "time limit" error means your Adobe ID is signed in on more than the maximum of two active devices at the same time. 

You might try going to your Adobe Account Page, navigate to Plans and payment, select Activated devices, and click Deactivate next to a computer you no longer use.
