Product:
Adobe Bridge 16.0.4.40

Platform:

  • Apple Silicon Mac
  • Latest macOS
  • Internal SSD and external SSD tested

Summary:
When previewing video with the Spacebar in Bridge, audio plays normally but the video image remains frozen. Hover-scrubbing over thumbnails works correctly.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open Adobe Bridge.
  2. Navigate to a folder containing video files.
  3. Select a video.
  4. Press Spacebar to preview.

Expected result

Video and audio both play.

Actual result

  • Audio plays normally.
  • Video remains frozen on a single frame.
  • Hover scrub over thumbnails works correctly.

File types tested

  • iPhone .MOV
  • Canon .MP4
  • Sony .MP4

All exhibit the same behavior.

Additional observations

  • Finder Quick Look plays the same files correctly.
  • QuickTime Player plays the same files correctly.
  • Lightroom Classic plays the same files correctly.
  • Hover scrub inside Bridge works normally.

Troubleshooting already performed

  • Updated Bridge from 16.0.3.21 to 16.0.4.40
  • Completely uninstalled and reinstalled Bridge
  • Did not import previous preferences
  • Reset Bridge preferences
  • Purged thumbnail cache
  • Enabled Software Rendering
  • Tested with files on internal SSD
  • Tested with files on external SSD
  • Tested with external monitors disconnected
  • Verified Adobe Dynamic Link processes are running
  • Verified Finder Quick Look and QuickTime playback

Conclusion

The issue appears isolated to Bridge's video preview renderer, since the same files play correctly everywhere else on the system.
