Camera Raw (hosted in Bridge) “Open” does nothing when folder name contains an apostrophe (‘)

Environment

  • Adobe Bridge 2026 [version: e.g. 16.0.8]
  • Adobe Photoshop 2026 [version: e.g. 27.11]
  • Camera Raw [version: e.g. 18.7]
  • Windows 11

Steps to reproduce

  1. Create a folder whose name contains an apostrophe, e.g. hogehoge's, and put a Canon raw file (.CR2) in it.
  2. In Bridge, browse to that folder.
  3. Right-click the .CR2 file and choose “Open in Camera Raw”.
  4. In the Camera Raw dialog (hosted in Bridge), click “Open”.

Expected result
Photoshop launches (or comes to the front) and opens the image.

Actual result
Nothing happens. Photoshop does not launch, and no error message is shown.
The same thing happens even when Photoshop 2026 is already running.

Additional information

  • If the folder is renamed without the apostrophe (e.g. hogehoges), the same steps work correctly.
  • Opening the same file directly in Photoshop from Bridge (right-click > Open With > Photoshop) works fine, and Camera Raw hosted in Photoshop opens normally.
  • The apostrophe (‘) is a valid character for folder names on Windows.
  • Already tried: checked Startup Scripts (Photoshop 2026 is enabled), restarted both apps — no change.

The use of apostrophies in file names is not good practice. They cause trouble in links, scripts, and some apps as you are witnessing. I would avoid them completely.
