Doesn't show correct preview images

I have an ongoing issue with Bridge. Almost every time I use it to make a contact sheet, it'll display an image incorrectly. not something like greyscale vs colour etc. but an entirely wrong art file.

I'll drop in two files, one with print art and one with finishing/cut files etc. The preview will show two print files, but usually output the contact sheet as expected. Sometimes though, it'll output the preview and I get two copies of the print file.

The only thing I've found that fixes it in the short term is to quit and reopen, but that's just a temporary fix as the problem comes back after about 10 minutes.

So, what's going on and how do I fix it?

This has already been done. It's an ongoing issue experienced by everyone in my office, with files being pulled from multiple desktop locations and servers. The location of the original files does not appear to be a variable. It seems to be a Bridge issue only, and present in multiple versions of Bridge, as not everyone is running the most recent release.

Hi @Jae32399264rj4s,

Thank you for sharing the files.

We have tried to reproduce the issue but it is not reproducible on our end.

Could you please try moving the files to a different folder and check if the issue still persists?

Thanks,

Bridge Team

Hi @Jae32399264rj4s,

Could you please share the PDF file you created in Illustrator, along with the contact sheet parameter details you modified in Bridge?

This will help us isolate the issue more effectively.

Thanks,

Bridge Team

Attached are the Original Ai file and the PDF saved from it for print. That PDF was used to create the contact sheet with the attached settings. Bridge seems to be referencing an older version of the PDF (labelled as _Old here, originally it would have said _Print.)

Given that I set up the contact sheet parameters, in this case it only needed to hold one image, and then drag and drop the files into bridge from their respective folder, I'm not sure what a recording of it happening would help. It's also a thing that happens inconsistently and unpredictably, so I wouldn't be able to record anything, or know that I needed to.

The original file is created in Ai and saved out as a PDF.

The pdf is then placed into Bridge to create a reference contact sheet.

In this instance, the file Bridge displays is approximately 7 days old, with my computer being switched off for 3 of those days. Bridge was used to create similar contact sheets with different files, all PDFs, without issue, but in this case, it references a file that no longer exists. And, whilst the output file is correct, I cannot be certain ahead of exporting to PDF from Bridge because the display file is wrong. Quitting and restarting Bridge is a partial solution and works temporarily before whatever causes this issue starts happening again.

We are unable to reproduce the issue on our end.
Could you please provide the following details to help us investigate further?

  • System configuration
  • Is the issue specific to particular files or formats?

Please share the screen recording of the issue at sharewithbr@adobe.com and mention this thread.
