Improper Selection

I am using Bridge version 14.0.0.102 on a Windows 11 PC. I notice that occasionally when I want to delete multiple files there is a problem as follows. I click on the leftmost image file and then hold down the shift key and click on the rightmost image file. Instead of selecting the files from leftmost to rightmost, files from the rightmost and more to the right are selected, but the intermediate files between leftmost and rightmost are not selected.
