Startup Scripts Missing

It appears my "scripts" are broken in Bridge 2026 Version 160.321. When I Edit-Preferences-Startup Scripts I see the usual items checkmarked. But when I "Reveal Scripts in Explorer" there is nothing there. Zero *.jsx files.

C:\Users\MyName\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Bridge 2026\Startup Scripts\ = EMPTY

I discovered this trying to Auto Stack a batch of exposure bracketed images. The Auto Stack function was missing. I've done this many times, but this was the first time in 2+ years. So it appears the issue came with some Bridge or Photoshop feature version updates.

Searching my Windows 11 system I found an AutoStacks.jsx file in:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Bridge (Beta) Extensions\AutoStacks.jsx

This, even though I had uninstalled Bridge Beta long ago after a brief test. So, I simply copied that file to the empty Startup Scripts folder for Bridge 2026, and now Auto Stacking is available and works. Go figure, but I recommend Bridge users to "Reveal Scripts in Explorer" to see if you have any.

The script in question is called Auto Collection CC 2014 in the Bridge 2026 Preferences>Startup Scripts and is located in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Bridge 2026 Extensions and consists of the AutoStacks.jsx and the AutoStacks folder.

If the AutoStacks.jsx and the AutoStacks folder is not in the above location you can copy the relevant items from another Bridge (version) Extensions folder.

We did have the same issue your having on both Mac and Windows and this is not the first Adobe Bridge version that for whatever reason didn’t install the AutoStacks folder and script.

The  "Reveal Scripts in Explorer" in the Bridge 2026 Preferences>Startups Scripts is to show the folder where Users can install scripts for various reasons including multiple User accounts and restricted access to the Program Files.

Scripts installed by Adobe are not put into the Startup Scripts folder, you need to check other Adobe folders as you discovered.

Don't know why you think that. With 25+ years using Adobe Photoshop+Bridge+ACR+LR I've never had to manually populate a scripts folder. I have 2 laptops in addition to my main desktop, but they have not been updated in a while. They both have the Auto Stacking script where it should be and it works. Only the desktop, with all Adobe apps updated, had the problem.

Adobe doesn’t put THEIR scripts into the Startup Scripts folder. Its in YOUR user Appdata folder. Maybe something went wrong with the installation.
