The entire thumbnail does not shift, however with a mixture of bitmap objects plus overlay art, the bitmap objects are shifted out of place or shifted out of the thumbnail entirely. The overlay elements remain in place.

The images (jpgs) in Illustrator are linked. Also the images are larger than the artboard initially and resized. There is only one artboard.

This only seems to affect image objects in Illustrator. The vector objects seem unaffected.

FYI, my Illustrator files begin as pre-built .ai files containing pre-existing guides, artboard, and many objects that I frequently use as overlays. So, outside the artboard are dozens of my objects that I use as needed.

In Windows Explorer previews and the Illustrator welcome page, all objects inside and outside the artboard appear in the thumbnail, correctly positioned.

In Bridge, only the artboard contents appear in thumbnails, but images are missing or shifted in the thumbnail.

Attached images are from thumbnails in Bridge -

One is the .png export from the illustrator file showing the image as created.

The other shows the .ai thumbnail with only two arrows on a white background with the image object missing.
