Character Animator 204 and 2025 will not import AI files

Uninstalling and reinstalling the Character Animator app does not solve the problem.

Previous .ia files I used in ealrier (pre-2023) versions now will not import into Character Animato; the files are greyed out.  I created a test ellipse in Illustrator 2023 and saved it in Illustrator CC (legacy) format and it also would not import.
