Character animator 'Edit original' opens an uneditable pdf in photoshop

I'm trying to edit the rigging for a particular character through Adobe called, 'Heller'. When I follow Edit>Edit Original or Ctrl+E, photoshop attempts to open the file as a pdf which gives me no access to layer files and pastes as a .jpeg in photoshop. 

I'm wondering if anyone has a fix or knows what I'm doing wrong? I would really appreciate any help.
