Why does my replay not sustain my triggers?

Hi -

I have a character with a simple replay animation of the character waving. The replay has both a trigger to change the hand to a wave hand and the dragger recording.  Replay is set to stop / sustain replay... but when I hold down the replay trigger key, the dragger animation suspends, but the hand swap trigger goes back to the default hand.  I've seen posts about this in the past but no solutions offered.

Any suggestions?

I am having the same issue. Did anyone figure it out?

Yeah, that's pretty much exactly the same kind of workflow I'm using for my talking head characters to make basic gestures. I think you're right about it being a bug. I hope Adobe plans on fixing this as it limits the utility of editable replays substantially.

I have the same problem now that replays are editable and I think it's a bug. I have done the same replays for simple talking head puppets for hand gestures for years. Let's say one where the character just puts both hands out to the side, open, like "Whoa!", so arms are W shaped. I would use draggers to put both hands in the right position, press my trigger key to change from natural to open hands, then record a 1 or 2 frame take.

I would then extend that out on the timeline, blend the start and end of the arms up part, and crop the ends of the "Open" hands so the switch as the hands move up, and then back down. I would save the replay, give it a name, a key (W), and set it to Latch and Stop/Sustain replay so I can control how long the arms stay up for.

Then I would record my video, pressing W to raise the arms, then W again a short time later to lower the arms.

This would give me an arms chunk, and the "Open" hands on the timeline to work with so I could adjust the length of either. Now you only get the replay block on the timeline, and the hands "open" only last as long as the original chunk. So if I am using latch and record a longer Hands Up chunk, the trigger releases a little bit in and the wrong hand shape is there. But there's no way to adjust it because there's no block for the "Open" hands on the timeline anymore, only in the replay, but it's already the right length in there for a play until it finishes replay, so you can't extend it in there.

I think something needs fixing to make editable replays work with Latch/Stop/sustain replay for varying length instances of the same replay.

After further testing, I can't even get the dragger recording to sustain.  Comparing my puppet replay to Dave W's example replay puppets and I see no difference in why mine won't sustain! Is there a possible bug in CA causing this?
