Hello, I was wondering if someone could help me I just installed substance painter on my personal computer (I got a little experience with it from school) and wanted to start baking my mesh.. but when I getting in the bake viewport I get those strange lines which are gltiching as I move around with my mouse. Does someone know where this is coming from ? Or better how to resolve it : )

Hello @Mulhuijsen,

Sorry for not explaining what I meant by phantom edges. Those are edges that aren't connected to another edge, therefore having no face. Basically, they're phantom because they're invisible, but they still exist on your model.

From your message, I guess that was the issue.

I am glad the problem is gone and have fun with 3D!

Hee @Cyril Dellenbach,

Thanks for your answer, to be honest I don't really know what phantom edges are.
But I fixed it, I saw that there where some edges who were not connected and I also put on soft normals. Now it works fine! 🙂
Think it could be the not connected edges ? (maybe this refer to phantom edges?)

Ayway thanks for your response

Greetings Mul

Hi @Mulhuijsen,

From the pictures you sent, I would say it looks like phantom edges. In your modeling software, you could try to select the object, invert the selection and delete, so we are sure there is no phantom edges or vertices.

You can reimport your mesh once it's done: Edit > reimport mesh (Ctrl + Shift + R).

Best regards,

it seems to disappear when I uncheck "average normals button"
