Graphical corruption with all versions of 12

Since upgrading to 12 and above, I’ve had nothing but graphical bugs and corruption with my textures in the viewport. Previously, in 11 and below, I’d never encountered any of this. Admittedly, I am using an old graphics card still - the GTX 1080, which is using the latest drivers. I’ve tried uninstalling Substance Painter and reinstalling, but it doesn’t fix the issue. I’ve also tried disabling the Sparse Virtual Texture in the settings.

The video recorded and attached demonstrates perfectly the kind of graphical corruption I keep getting. At the moment, I’m using 12.1.5.

    Hello @DustyShinigami,

From what I can see, I suspect the issue comes from the GPU indeed. With the 11.1 release we dropped OpenGL for Vulkan, therefore older GPU were not supported anymore. This kind of visual bug strongly looks like this specific issue.

Thanks for the reply and for confirming my suspicions. I did wonder when I last saw the minimum GPU specs. But yeah, that would definitely explain it. So far, I’ve switched from a 4K document resolution to 2K and that seems to have helped. Can’t say if it’ll be permanent though. If all else fails, I’ll have to try working in a new document for each texture set. It might help.

But yes, I’m definitely in need of a new graphics card. 😅
