Issue with Ambient Occlusion

In Substance Painter, when I generate ambient occlusion maps, they don't work correctly. Instead of being created based on the model, they appear as white lines, completely ignoring the model's UVs.

What I have tried so far:

  • Reinstalling the program
  • Using older versions
  • Deleting the cache
  • Clearing my computer's cache
  • Testing with a different software (even with Substance Painter’s default models, the issue persists)
  • Using a fill layer and manually generating ambient occlusion, but it still doesn’t work

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

The new driver is out and the issue has already been fixed.

roll back your nvidia drivers to the game ready driver that was released on December 5th if you have a 40 series card. The graphics driver does not seem to be compatible with the substance painter engine in 2023 version. Causing compute erros while baking mesh maps regarding the ambient occlusion layer

Thank you very much! The solution worked for me. The error is likely due to a recent incompatibility in the 2024 software version or system drivers, as Substance Painter 2018 works correctly, and in fact, bakes in Substance Designer 2024 also function without issues. This suggests the problem is tied to specific updates in the 2024 version of Painter or to the system drivers.

I report: As soon as I installed the studio driver from NVIDIA 566.36, Ambient Occlusion immediately baked perfectly.

For me the problem is obvious - it is a problem with the new nvidia drivers because it was after updating the drivers that this started happening to me, try rolling back to the previous version.

Maybe I'm wrong, but as has already been said, this started happening to me after updating the driver.

Try Setting>General>Baking Options

Uncheck = Enable GPU raytracing
