Problems with 4K textures in viewport on 7900 xtx

Every time im switching to 4K textures in a viemport my card start acting weird. I mean lags, statters, sometimes GPU crash, but with another options (2k, 1k, 512 and other) there is no problem at all. + In a 4K mode i cant paint properly, its all lags as hell. I have the latest adrenalin and drivers for both CPU and GPU (31.0.14037.1007)

To further refine the issue, I found a repeatable example in my scene. I have a recording here of this issue.

In this instance it appears to be unpredictable tasks which cause memory spikes. These only occur when working with 4K viewport textures and not 2K.

This recording example shows the scenario working at 2K viewport textures and then the same thing breaking at 4K viewport texture resolution.

I have a very similar issue when I use 4K textures, I also have a 7900 XTX. however I was watching my VRAM usage and even in a small Substance 3D Painter scene with 4K textures, my VRAM usage continues to increase until its full and then all the issues occur. Sometimes this is very fast, other times it takes 1 or 2 min before VRAM is loaded. I didn't think 3 UDIMS at 4k resolution would load a 24gb card?

Moreover, if you switch to 4K, all the baked textures simply disappear

The TDR issue would have been my next advice, but it was definitely not my first guess.

Do you receive a notification for reporting your crash ? If so, please report it, so our team can access to a lot more than just the log. Also, you can send me your log just after a crash so it is saved in the log. For that, don't reopen Substance after a crash and go under C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Adobe\Adobe Substance 3D Painter to find your log.

Oh yes, no worries, it is because your Substance 3D Painter version is the 8.2 and the hardware acceleration has been added at the 8.3 for AMD.

From your log, I don't see anything weird, but we know some users may experience issues with Sparse Virtual and certain AMD drivers. You might try rolling back to a previous driver version and see if anything changes.

With that being said, could it just be a peformance issue ? With how many UDIM are you working on ?

Hi again @Navizena_Liarva,

Turning off the hardware acceleration under Settings>General>Sparse Virutal Texture might solve the issue.

Keep me posted!
