Substaince Painter constant crashing NVidia 3060

I've updated to a brand new RTX 3060 recently, and after wrapping up my model and UVs I took to SP to do the texturing, but I've found that I'm having constant, seemingly-random crashes with no real way to repeat them.

For example: Last night I worked on SP for about a total of 4 hours and suffered no crashes. But today I haven't been able to even rotate my object without it crashing, it'll either crash the moment I load the object, the moment I open SP, or really at any point during use from idling to painting a texture.

I've attached the logs generated by SP, hope they help someone figure out what's going on. This is a fresh install of windows, as well, and I'm using the latest NVidia driver (Underclocked core memory by -75 mhz to see if that helps, it didn't.)

If anyone can tell me how to fix this, I'd greatly appreciate it!

@Cyril Dellenbach I've tried to attach .txt files to my posts here or to direct messgaes, but I've been unable to, how can I get the new crash logs posted here for possible assistance? Thank you.

@davescm I will try to find it, but it seems the NVidia website is having some difficulties, I can't access a lot of the older versions, may settle for 516.94 and see if it helps any.

Have you tried an earlier driver. I use Nvidia's Studio driver v519.94  v516.94 here with no issues on an RTX3090.

When installing that version, or even reinstalling your current version, choose Advanced and Clean install in the NVidia settings. That will ensure remnants of an older driver are not carried forward.

Hello and thank you!

I've started testing the crashes with other 3D software I'm using, and it's almost a coin toss, some softwares never seem to crash, such as: Fusion 360, ZBrush, Marmoset Toolbag, and Maya. While on the other hand: Blender, RizomUV, and Substance Painter crash seemingly at random.

It could be like you said, an issue with the RTX 3060, but it seems strange that only a select few crash while the others perform well.

I've tested with a couple of other projects, they all crash just the same. I'll be sure to respond with further logs once I return to my texturing work and I'll send the crash reports as soon as the window pops up next time.

Thank you.

Hi @LfSB,

and thank you for the log, this makes the process a lot quicker.

I've look into it and unfortunately haven't found anything weird. I'm tempted to say it comes from your RTX (because the problems appeared with it), but if the crashes aren't occurring with other software, that's certainly not the issue.

Do the crashes happend with all of your Substance projects or only with a specific one ?

The most important thing is: when your Substance 3D Painter crashes, make sure to send the crash report (the pop-up window) and leave us your e-mail somewhere. With the crash report, we can access to a lot more information than we can with the log. Do not hesitate to send it multiple times, especially if the issue seems to be random.

With that being said, your log has in memory only one session at the time, so if your Substance Painter crashes again, feel free to once again send it to me for a quick look.

Best regards,
