Substance Painter crashes when navigating for an obj to make a new project

As the subject says: when I go to File>New and bring up the dialogue to begin a new project, then click to get the obj I wish to texture on, as soon as it opens the explorer window, the whole program crashes. This has rendered Substance Painter unusable for me at the moment, and that is BAD considering I need it for my job. HELP!!!!

BTW: reopened the program to export a log which is attached

After a talk with the team, it seems other users faced this issue. The problem was related to a software conflict we are having with ChituBox. There is now an option you can deactivate in Chitubox, that should fix the crash with Painter :

Hello @Les5CE0,

Sorry we missed your message back in 2022. Since early 2023, I've joined the team in order to avoid this kind of problem as much as we can.

Regarding this Windows Explorer issue, let me investigate on my end and come back to you as soon as I have a lead.

I think this wouldn't be surprising if the problem isn't strictly from Substance Painter (considering it only occurs when interacting with the Windows Explorer), but from a conflict with another soft. Therefore and in the meantime, make sure to check this page listing all the known application conflicts. This should make a good start.

Best regards,

This happened to me quite a bit and I was royally irritated then I figured out that Windows needed to make one of its previews of my file for some reason before substance could load it, although I'm having the problem come up again with files that Windows has may have preview for so I'm not quite understanding
