Substance Painter Hard Freezing PC when using Polygon Fill tool

Whenever i use the polygon fill tool in substance painter in either 3D OR 2D views, my entire pc locks up and i have to reboot my system with a cold shutdown,

I have:
Updated my drivers
Used DDU
Turned off Sparse Virtual Texturing
Re-installed Substance Painter twice, one with my data kept and one without.

Specs are

AMD Radeon 6700xt
Ryzen 5600x
16GB Corsair Ram
on driver version 23.9.2

none of these have fixed the issue, i have even done a drive scan for corrupted files

Thanks a lot for the log file, I'm going to investigate as soon as I can!

found the log file in my appdata folder, last thing that shows up is an IRAY error regarding anistropy, searched it up on google and the only time its mentioned is with another crash and baking maps on a arc 770

could this be the same issue even if its an AMD gpu

Just had this happen AGAIN on 9.1, on a completely unrelated project file, completely hard freezes my pc so it wipes the log file and when i open the app it just replaces it with the default log on load stuff

getting to be quite annoying as being unable to work a project without the inevitable crash happening and me losing my work makes me just want to not use this program anymore

The issue could be due to the mesh, but it's hard to tell. Did you encounter the issue with other projects. If not already done, it's worth a try to load and check with a Sample (File > Open Sample).

Substance Painter Log

tried to use polygon fill tool and instead of crashing my entire pc it just froze the program itself

Seems as if 9.0.1 has fixed it, if it happens again though i will post a new reply here, but ive just tested on two different files and nothing has happened other than the expected slowdown of my pc as it calculates what to do.

trying to figure out what could be causing this to no avail,
Tried updating drivers, tried DDU and reinstall, tried changing display performance mode, tried changing priority,  no matter what i do its always the same cause, loading a particularly dense file or using the polygon fill tool will freeze the viewport permanently, the UI buttons still work and function like they should but the viewport is completely frozen and unresponsive, and if i change the window size it breaks the program and will replace the increased space with a white box.

PC Specs

AMD Radeon 6700xt
Ryzen 5600x
16gb of ram
windows 10 home 22h2

Hello Ciaran,

Thanks for the details.

Is it something that has always occured with your Substance Painter, or is it a recent bug? Can you share your log as well (help > export log...), so we can have a closer look?

Also, the latest AMD drivers for GPU are having issues with Substance 3D Painter, therefore it's worth trying to deactivate the Sparse virtual texturing (Edit > Settings > General > Sparse Virtual Texturing > Hardware support acceleration), or rollback your drivers for a previous version.

Best regards,
