Substance Painter very slow startup on Mac

Startup on two separate 2019 Mac Pros with macOS 12.5.1 takes several minutes. Same version launches almost instantly on Windows system. Is this normal?

    v8.13 opens normally on an M1 Max Macbook Pro so this appears to be an Intal Mac only problem. Any solution other than waiting or downgrading?

    Reverting to v7.4.3 brings back normal startup times. All builds of v8 take forever.
