So i posted this a while back before but the Post has been removed for some reason…. i guess because being inactive on the post.

but yeah this happens when using the Pen Tool more you use it. adds artifacts to your Height and the only fix for this was to Down Grade to 2025 11.0.3… Any Higher that that Version the Bug still remains there…… shocking its still there in 2026

Hello @Stealth-unit,

And sorry for the delay in response. I’ll do my best to answer all your points.

First, I remember your post, I even remember you kindly shared your project, (or maybe it was on Discord?) I remember to investigate on it, but to be honest I don’t remember the outcome. As you possibly have already realized, we’ve moved the Forum to a new platform. This is good news, but unfortunately we’ve lost some posts from a specific set of dates in the migration. Yours was probably in this unfortunate list. We should retrieve them at some point, but no news on this end.

Now, let’s focus on your issue! From my perspective, it doesn’t look like a real “Painter bug”. Let me explain myself. I see two kind of artifacts in your video (thanks for the video by the way)

  1. Weird colors
  2. Stripes

Weird Colors in the Normal Map are expected. I’m sure that if you display your material and not the Normal Map, you don’t see any related artifacts. This is because of your UV shells orientation. To make it simple, Normal Maps work in a tangent space, so in 2D. When editing your Normal map directly on your 3D model, Painter automatically makes the required adjustments from on UV shell to another preventing, in fact, visible seams. I’m convinced that if you add a UV checker Generator, you’ll realized that artifacts are located near seams.
In addition, uncommon mesh’s normals can also result with a “weird looking” Normal Map. Therefore, I wouldn’t relate too much on how my Normal map looks, but rather on the material view itself.

Stripes are a different thing. On my side, I’m not reproducing.

However, it kinda looks like a bitdepth issue to me. Can you tell me in which Space your Height map is working?

Texture Set Settings - Channels

Also, do you see these stripes in the material itself? Do you have underneath layers with this kind of “fur” effect? If so, can you switch the Path layer’s Blending mode to “Normal” for the Normal map and Height Channel?

Let me know.

i thought the post was just being ignored >,<….. umm i never had shared the project because never gotten a reply back X-D from the old post.. so i might need Email or something again ^-^..

#1 stripes your looks very clean O.o i dont see anything X-D

#2 looks like the same as yours

#3 it dose nothing making it NMdt “Fur Data is where all the Painting is”  and Blending is where you can Change the settings.

its i find find it odd how the Wooden effects shows up in my Project the longer you work on it… even the finished Fur paint Changes into Wooden Effects and Circles

if your not getting this issue is it possible its the Tool brush it self ? it hasn't been updated in Ages

https://eslar.gumroad.com/l/hxlDG is his Page

I’ll inspect that! You can send the project (the .SPP file) and the Tool resource at cdellenbach@adobe.com
Also, if you can share your hardware specifications, it would help. Please leave a link to this thread in your e-mail, so I can easily find it back.
