Erroneous Update Notifications

I am currently using PS v 26.7.0 20250513.r.15 on Windows 11 24H2

I've had a couple of update notifications in the last few days saying 'Update for Photoshop Available'
When I go into creative cloud and go to updates, It says everything is up to date,  (Photoshop Updated 18 days ago). This is the same even if i refresh.

I suspect there is a bug somewhere ??

yes, that is how it happens.

First I get the balloon notification, then opening CC Desktop I see this:

and after a short while, this:

It is not causing other issues, it is only, as you wrote, confusing, then becomes annoying and you end up either ignoring it completely, or even disableing the notifications for CC Desktop all toghether, which is somewhat counterproductive.

yes, PS is installed in the default directory.

Just this morning I turned on another PC, after login it updated CC Desktop and right after that, it showed the usual "Update for Photoshop Available". I then opened CC Desktop - it first showed PS version 26.9 as available and after maybe 30 seconds, it showed the correct state, PS 26.9 as installed.

I have seen this behaviour for approx two years on and off. In my case it happened on now three different PCs, one of which is new with a fresh install of all Adobe apps.

Hi @TAP Photography

Thanks for posting about this. So, just to ensure I understand, after you updated to the latest version of the Creative Cloud desktop app, it didn't initially recognize that you had the latest version of Photoshop installed, and instead showed the version you currently had installed as an available update, but after about 30 seconds, the issue resolved itself?

I'm wondering if when the Creative Cloud desktop app updates itself, the database of recent product updates gets updated too, and it takes a little bit to refresh itself. This is speculation on my part. I could see how this would be confusing or annoying, but it sounds like it resolves itself relatively quickly. I can check with our developers to confirm that this is the case. Has the issue caused any difficulties other than confusion and annoyance?

Thanks,
Dave

@TAP Photography

are all your photoshop versions installed in the directory specified by the cc desktop app preferences?

this has happened on at least three different Win11 systems for a long time now.

It always occurs after a Creative Cloud Desktop update has been installed and it always shows "Update for Photoshop Available"

Hi @brianp49895668 and @davescm,

Could you please help to collect and share the Creative cloud logs using Log collector tool. You can run the tool and upload the logs and share the file name with us.

Regards,

Ruchika Wadhawan

reset the cc desktop app by making sure it's in the foreground, then press:

Win: Ctrl + Alt + R
Mac: Cmd + Opt + R

It has been an occasional issue for some time and lies with the CC desktop app. I got such a notification this morning telling me I had 18 app updates. All were up to date.

I've moved your thread from the Photoshop forum to the Creative Cloud Desktop forum where you are more likely to get help with your issue.
