When converting from a LR3 catalog, as well as when switching back manually to PV 2010, the new noise sliders ("Details" for luminance and color, as well as "Contrast" for luminance) are not active and cannot be changed. I have no idea if just the sliders are disabled or the associated development settings vanished, too (as it is the case for the tone curve). LR4.0 64 Bit, Win7, tested with a RAW file from Canon 40D.
After upgrading to LR4 many of my previews don't show in some of my overlaying folders. It only says that there's no photos in marked folder (don't know the english translation exactly since my version is in swedish). From the beginning I couldn't see the previews in som folders at all but after imprting them they showed up. In some of my overlaying folders (containing folders within folders) I can see all photos but in others not. It's especially annoying in the All photos folder since I can't make an overall search. The same phenomenon occurs when searching on some keywords. Sometimes it says in the metadata-tab in under keyword that ther's no photos but they show up anyway, though in the keywordlist it says the number of photos in the folder. Sometimes no photos at all show up. I have about 65 000 photos in this particular catalogue.
Why has Adobe not proactively told users upgrading to V.4 of the damage to their back catalogues because of the loss of tone curve data? Adobe are actively allowing people upgrading to cause significant damage to thousands of images through the loss of tone curve data. I can only imagine in the hope that not many upgraders notice their images being damaged. That is a truly reprehensible way to treat a loyal client base, and Adobe risk serious damage to their reputation as this issue become a real headache for more & more users. Anyone senior from Adobe care to comment on this?
I'm using Lightroom 3.4.1, 64bit on Windows 7 I really want to be able to enter CR/LF when entering photo metadata caption text. This works and displays fine in Lightroom when entered using Ctrl/Enter, and is recorded correctly in the photo file or xmp sidecar as " & # x A ; ". The problem is that if this data is ever re-read from the xmp sidecar or embedded data, Lightroom no longer displays the CR/LF, so for example: Line1 Line2 gets displayed as: Line1Line2 The " & # x A ; " must still be in the data, it is just ignored. In fact, if a CL/LF is again entered, it displays in Lightroom's Caption box, but gets doubled in the data files. So "Line1 & # x A ; Line2" gets re-written as "Line1 & # x A ; & # x A ; Line2" in the sidecar. I've got thousands of files like this, so this is a real big problem for me in Lightroom. It would be nice if CR/LF in captions would be displayed in other Lightroom features like slideshows, but that would be more a feature. The improper d
Lightroom 3.6: Identity Plate in Web Module -- custom plate is not working. When creating a web gallery and trying to use a custom graphic as an ID plate, LR creates the ID plate by converting the graphic to a PNG file. For some reason, the converted PNG is blank for some original graphic files. It does not matter whether the original is JPG, BMP or PNG. I have posted this issue on the LR forum at adobe.com, but so far no one has come up with a solution. One of the other users has confirmed the same bug in LR 4 beta. For a full description of the problem along with sample files, please see http://forums.adobe.com/message/42359... Maybe someone here can shed some light on the problem. Thank you. John
Hi, In LR, I have an intermittent problem where for Folders published to Hard Disk, the folder name sometimes is not visible, only the number of items in the folders. See the 2 attachments. I have to quit LR and restart the application to resolve the problem, until it happens again a few days later. My system is in french. Is this a known bug? Thanks,
There's a bug between the Grid (2nd monitor) and Navigator. If I hover the thumbnails in the grid, Navigator will show the last image I hovered and not the current one that is selected. Also, it won't show preset preview if I select the image by the grid. So basically, hovering, selecting and picking the images in the Grid messes the view in Navigator. Filmstrip is working fine. It was already mentioned and documented during the beta phase but wasn't fixed: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/948447
Steps to reproduce: 1. Load a RAW file with known lens into develop module 2. Klick "Set Default..." and "Restore Adobe Default Settings" 3. Reset (the photo has now Adobe default settings, profile correction is not active) 4. Activate profile corrections 5. Set profile corrections setup type to "Default" (should already be set upon activation) 6. Klick "Set Default..." and "Update to Current Settings" 7. Reset 8. Also reset (or import) some other photos taken with the same camera 9. Look at the camera's Default_nnnnn.xmp file in Adobe\CameraRaw\Defaults Expected results: - After the second reset, the profile corrections setup type *remains* at "Default" - Other photos are reset to / imported with profile corrections setup type "Default" - Default_nnnnn.xmp contains crs:LensProfileSetup="LensDefaults" Actual results: - After the second reset, the profile corrections setup type *changes* to "Custom" - Other photos are reset to / imported with profile corrections setup type "Custom" - De
Lightroom 3.5RC says "Can't update this collection: An internal error has occurred: assertion failed!" when I try to Publish a Hard Drive service that has modified photos. I use it regularly and have had no problems prior to 3.5RC.
Peculiar. I am losing the ability to use the right click functionality of my mouse within LR. Of note - Windows 7 64bit - on the rest of my computer i have no such issues (anywhere). - it seems to happen after i have had the program open for extended periods +30-40min. - only seems to have started with 3.4 (for me at least) - re-staring Lr solves the issue for another 40 min Seems to have been reported before http://forums.adobe.com/message/3321022 http://www.flickr.com/groups/adobe_li...
Crop an image so that none of the original borders are as they were. Move the white balance eyedropper over the image and watch the Navigator Window. It shows strange colour casts. (The numbers under the Loupe and the pixels shown in the loupe look right, but when you click, the point under the eyedropper doesn't always show neutral grey). Gotta be a bug. I have Lightroom 3 on a newer Windows 7 PC. Two internal hard drives. My Image files and lightroom catalogs are on the C drive. I would like to backup the lightroom catalog on the other internal drive "E". When I get to the catalog backup dialog, it only goves me option on the C drive - It doe snot navigate to "E" or any external drive. It forces me to backup on the C drive. I can nevigate to other drives everywhere else in Lightroom e.g. folders. Please help.
Currently, when editing a RAW using "edit in photoshop", there is no dialog box with options to choose from. Problem: One cannot choose whether the newly created image will be stacked with the original or not. And very confusing: Whether the image is stacked or not depends on how one has set this option *previously* (!) in an edit which shows the options dialog (e.g. edit a JPG, or edit with an external editor different from PS) - even if that edit was cancelled, which oddly enough makes it a workaround for setting this option. So my idea is: When editing a RAW using "edit in photoshop", show a little dialog box containing only the option "stack with original". If I remember correctly, this was still the case in LR 1.x (the dialog box contained also the "what to edit", but fixed to "Edit a copy with LR adjustments", obviously). P.S. I already sent that using the old bug report form a while ago (as a bug). I hope it's ok to re-post it here as an idea (so at least I can see whether I am
Lightroom (recent versions including 3.6) always starts with an expanded "Keyword Set" panel, regardless of the panel's previous state. E.g. if the "Keywording" panel is expanded but the "Keyword Set" panel is hidden, quitting and restarting Lightroom (or switching between catalogs) will automatically expand the "Keyword Set" panel within "Keywording".
I have a problem I am using Lightroom 3.5 and started to have a problem with the slideshow component. I get the following error: Log (3) Cannot create the encoder instance, h264OutVideoNew failed. error: h264OutVideoChkSettings - no library function available error: No encoder library could be found! Thanks for any help you can provide!
Hi there - hope someone can help - when I try to export to jpeg in the print module I get a jpeg with a very red colour cast - completely unusable. Why do I do this rather than use export to jpeg - so that I can create montages of photos. Using camera raw 6.6 and LR 3.6 RC Alternatively how do I roll back to 3.5 where everything worked? Thanks in advance DrF
Hi, I'm using LR for both Digital picture and large scanned films. When I use the brush with the automask "on" to develop a 16bits gray level tiff (Hasselbald films 7000*7000 pixel), LR crashes with no recovery possible: - the screen is frozen - I've to kill LR with the task manager (I'm under Windows7) - the catalog isn't working anymore (if I reopen it, it will crash every time I go to this photo) - so I've to restart from the last back-up (wich costed me a few hours of work). I don't know if this issue is new or not as I've never tested it before 3.5 but I got it both on 3.5RC & 3.5 official. For me it's the first time that I've encountered an issue that is really blocking my work. I'd like to have the "automask" work on B&W TIFF (based on a gray-level range) or at least the "auto mask" inhibited on these photos, but it's very difficult to stay with a system where if I forget to turn automask OFF I can lose hours of work. If you want them, I can send the real data.
You select a bunch of files, a mix of images and videos. Then click Create Collection and see that "include selected photos" is ticked. The resulting collection set does not contain you video files. There is no option to include them in this dialogue box. There is no warning or message that LR is ignoring the video files. You can still manually drag the videos in, so adding them is possible. Please change that option to "include selected files."? We have plenty of filtering options, so really we don't need more in the Create Collection box. It should be create an empty collection or add everything that is selected. Thanks, B
If I have a keyword in a photo with a synonym, and I check "Export Synonyms" for that keyword, and then hit cmd-S (Save Metadata to File), the synonym is not saved in the Metadata. It should be saved. This is the same issue addressed in http://forums.adobe.com/thread/345318...
Is there a way in which I could help to address some of the remaining bugs? I relatively frequently get an "An unknown error occurred." message. Is there a way, e.g., by activating a logging mechanism, in which I could help the team to find out about the source of this error / these errors? I recently could not reorganise a folder structure because LR told me "You cannot move a folder into one of its subfolders" (or very similar). The target folder was not a subfolder. I subsequently moved the folder I wanted to move into the target folder using Windows Explorer and then let LR "find" the folder at the new location. This appears to have worked but LR should have supported the move in the first place. Sometimes, when I want to move a folder within LR, LR tells me that the operation didn't succeed and when I try again immediately the move works. Obviously all the above normally works so I'm not sure whether there would be a point in filing bug reports for these. Maybe being able to activ
I'm having consistent crashes when trying to work on certain Tiff files imported from Photoshop. It does it over and over again and tells me it will let me know when a solution is found. It has been several days now and I've heard nothing - should I expect some sort of communication from Adobe? In the meantime I've reloaded Lightroom 3.5 several times, with exactly the same problems. Can anyone help?
I use LR3 and have just upgraded to OS X Lion. When importing images from CF card, server mounted volumes are not displayed as an import destination. Drives are mounted and are visible when in the Library module, but not visible when importing. This was not the case under Snow Leopard. I can import the images to a locally attached drive then drag to the network volume in Library, but this requires adequate space on local drive and takes time to carry out the process.
I recently noted that in Lr 3.4 the metadata field "Date/time digital" does not show the correct date any more. It always shows the date/time of the other two date/time fields. I've tested my catalog again with Lr 3.3 and there it shows correctly. This seems to be bug introduced in Lr 3.4.
In the IPTC field Date Created...I enter 1906-01-01 and hit return....the field is now populated w/ 2042-02-6. Lightroom says that the metadata has been saved with the original file, but when I look at the image in Bridge (or one that has been exported from LR...) I get the correct date that I entered (1906-01-01). How can I get Lightroom to display the Date Created that is imbedded w/in the file? btw I'm using MacOS 10.6.7 & LR 3.4.1.....thanks!
