How you accommodate it depends on the cause. 100% guaranteed software bug, but LrC won’t reveal what area of the code triggered it. In my case, I got this precise message:

Internal error ?:0 / indexing a NIL value while exporting a JPG

Cause: select two images in the “recent imports” collection and permanently delete one, then export

Solution: switch to the everything collection and then switch back to recents. The selection for the removed photo will be released and export won’t fail on it.

ADOBE thinks that it’s only worthy of discussion and I think that whoever reviewed my bug report has a poor understanding of software. I said as much before, but my bug reporting capability has been disabled, or I’d re-report the bug. (They moved it into a comment on a discussion thread, saying my bug report duplicated the discussion. Wrong.)

Hi Becky, have you tried updating or reinstalling Shotproof?

Did anybody get any resolution on this? Getting the same error, using a Shootproof plugin on LR 7.1 subscription version running on MacOS Sierra.

Try Jeffrey Friedl's SmugMug plugin.

I'm having this same problem. Here's the error:

an internal error has occurred: ?:0: attempt to index field 'error' (a nil value)

I'm using LR5.7 (monthly subscription) and Windows 7 OS. The error occurs when I'm trying to publish a Smart Gallery via SmugMug plugin 2.1.8 (says it's updated version). It takes for bloody ever and finally after hours upon hours of doing nothing (but saying operation in progress), there is this error. HELP!!! I need to be able to publish to SM.
