Lightroom 4.1RC 64bit won't import video. I tried different video formats. What's wrong?

Hi Nathan,

Try DivX 9.0.1 - that version worked for me.

Hello Becky,
I installed version 9.0.0 of the DivX Plus Player to see if the issue is resolved and I'm seeing the same problem with Lightroom 4.3. Now, I just have to figure out how to uninstall their application to try to get video import functionality back in Lightroom. DivX seems to have decided against including an uninstaller with this version. I went to "Uninstall a Program" in the Windows 7 Control Panel and DivX isn't listed. They don't seem to have an uninstaller in the application directory either. Oops.

Thanks. It's hard to understand the specifications.

My DSLR ( Olympus E5 ) records video. I guess it would be usable. The Sony is much easier to use than the camera, so I'll just have to use iMovie.

This is one where I processed my RAW still files in LR4, but had to import them into iMovie in order to use the camcorder files. I wish I could've tweaked the video footage.

Hi John Earl,

The format you got from the Sony rep is the file format. mpg2 is an encoding standard. The file format isn't an indication of the encoding standard, as we have seen a variety of file formats using the mpg2 encoding.

Since you're using a Sony camcorder, it is likely the files are mpg2. Not all camcorders use mpg2, but all the video files we've heard about that have mpg2 are from camcorders, not videos from DSLRs.

Does my SONY recorder has mpeg2 files, since the Video Format is described as HD: MPEG4-AVC/H.264 AVCHD 2.0 format compatible; STD: MPEG2-PS. This is Greek to me.

My Sony recorder uses a MPEG4 HD format which I'm unable to import into LR4. I can import video files from this camera using Mac's iMovie. What gives?

For those of you who determined your Lightroom video import or playback issue was related to having DivX installed...

DivX 9.0 is now available and according to the DivX engineers, resolves the Lightroom import bug. Since I was unable to repro that problem here, I hope some of you would be willing to update to DivX 9.0 and report back if the bug persists.

NOTE: There may be Lightroom video issues NOT related to DivX. DivX 9.0 only fixes the issues specific to having DivX and Lightroom installed on the same machine.

I can't playback videos imported with LR3 that works fine on it. I get the message "error reading this video. You edit this video".

I can't import videos with LR4.1. I get "there is a problem with this video file".

Videos are mov files created by an iPhone, and I work with OSX 10.7.5. It seems LR4.1 is not supporting videos...

I was able to unfreeze Lightroom by setting everything that had to do with Adobe Lightroom to "allow" in my Norton 360 firewall. Did not have to restart Lightromm 4. I will see what it does with the video issue. It stayed darn slow, though.
