Lightroom 4.1RC 64bit won't import video. I tried different video formats. What's wrong?

I spent almost 3 hours today on live chat with an technical rep from Adobe. We had screen sharing going and everything. Apparently there is some conflict from something in windows. We created a new user profile and disabled UAC, disabled all services and all startup items and from there I was able to import videos without a hitch. Tried disabling startup items and services on my own account, and still was not working.

I don't know if this is a profile issue or what now. It was very frustrating to come to the end of that line with no resolution. But the guy did put in good faith effort.

I will be playing around more later, i hvae a few ideas on what might be causing the conflicts.

I also still have the same problem, despite various attempts to find a cause.
Apparantly Adobe lost interest in this problem, I don't see any support from their side.

I have this issue still. Must be some conflict I'm not thinking of. I don't have DivX installed though.

Wierd conflicts though. I noticed earlier that Import crashes Lightroom if I have my phone plugged into the computer, even if I'm not importing from the phone. Just having it connected causes repeated crashes.

I managed to fix it by removing DIVX....all works fine now 🙂

Michael Many thanks for that, normal service has been resumed! (should have thought of that!)

I did a clean install of my laptop and after that it imports perfectly. No idea what interfered with LR, but now it's okay.

I am also having similar Video problems. I can import *.mov files from a Nikon D7000 but they will not play in LR 4.1. They do play in Quick Time, Windows Media Player and Bridge (CS5). It is very frustrating as it was one of the reasons for purchasing LR 4. I had already posted a separate note before seeing this lead.

Hi Becky,
It sounds like you are using Quicktime to render your video. As Quicktime do not offer MPEG2 playback, we cannot have that in LR4.

However, it is possible to purchase a MPEG2 plugin for Quicktime pro (on apple website).
So I am wondering, if I have Quicktime pro and this plugin will it be possible to catalog my mpeg2 files?
This plugin cost 20 euro, this is a bit annoying to have to buy it, but if it work, I will.
regards

Anyone having more suggestions to solve my problem with importing and editing video files from a Nikon D90? I have updated to LR 4.1, I don't see any improvement.
