P: Curves bug with Wacom Intuos Pro

This thread has been going on since April when LR CC was released. Please read; https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1827333

So Adobe released Lightroom CC 2015.1.1 and new Wacom driver 6.3.13w3. In hopes of a remedy I thrashed Lightroom .plist preference files (keeping a backup) under my user account and did a fresh install of Wacom driver keeping nothing from previous version. Did that do any change? ... NO!

I'm getting seriously tired of this prolonged bug and it still affects; grabbing slider values and dragging (scrubbing ie. white balance), setting and dragging adjustment points on a RGB histogram, HSL picker tool and generally all sliders when scrubbing. As said before it needs a good push to activate any change, moving the pen fast and quite a bit of travel, then it jumps and moves alot. Thereafter it is somewhat smooth until you release the pen. Using mouse or tablet touch is as perfect as before, but I want to use the pen all the time. I belive that thelazydesigner is right about that this has something to do about Adobe programming a mouse slow down smoothing using LR to increase usability for accelerated mouses. But for pen and tablet usability this jerky and inresponsive feel is appalling.

Keep in mind after reading the forum thread that these issues only affect LR and not Camera Raw. Furthermore it is unaffected by turning on or off GPU acceleration. And sadly everything was working fine in LR 5.7.1.

These issues have been persistent for the last half year or so, and I'm glad to say that for my sake they are gone! I'm now running Mac OS X 10.11, LR CC 2015.2 and Wacom driver 6.3.14-1 .. FINALLY!

I'm having the same issue with my new 15" MacBook Pro and an 2009 MacPro. Curves is so important, but unusable at the moment. I Don't need new features but the basic tools should work.

Good for you, I was unable to revert to 5.7.1 as LR CC changed database structure of the Catalog (*.lrcat) file. Even though my most recent backup was once only a few hours behind, I stuck with it a while longer and by now it would be a tedious job to go over the last three months of work.

But hey, I like to try new things out and in the long run it's a good thing to implement GPU acceleration. It's just sad that this bug hasn't been squashed by now.

Same issue here, I have had to revert to an older version of lightroom til this gets fixed. Can't use curves at all in the newer version!

Same issue here, with Bamboo tablet. Doesn't seem to matter what kind of tablet it is, just the fact that it is a tablet. That's when the curves go erratic on adjustment.

Ok Rikk,

thanks for replying. I trashed the LR preferences, but I'm afraid the sluggish responsiveness stays the same using a Wacom Pro tablet. As I mentioned in the Adobe Forum thread; it's using the pen that evokes these issues in comparison to tablet touch input or a regular mouse for that matter, which is as smooth as ever.

As for Wacom driver issues, I might prove you right as I've successfully rolled back the driver to 6.3.8-2 (in-stable for OS X 10.10) which removes the same sticky and sluggish feeling for all scrubby sliders including the HSL-picker tool. Although the curves bug remains. Now I'm back to stable 6.3.13w3 and poor performance under LR. Keep in mind that these issues only apply to LR CC and not Camera Raw even though they're built up the same. I have an Intel Iris GPU acceleration turned on, but that doesn't make a difference if I turn it off.

Let's hope for good Wacom drivers and LR upgrades once OS X El Capitan rolls out.

I just tested on Windows 8.1 with an Intuos 4 and the 6.3.13w3 driver. I don't see any difference in response on the Curves dialog regardless of the status of the Windows Ink check box.

There is a new procedure for trashing preferences files in Lightroom 6. You no longer delete the plist file. Instead. Close Lightroom. Hold down [Alt/Opt][Shift] and relaunch Lightroom. [Delete Preferences] Button.

It is also possible this is a Wacom Pro issue but I don't have one to test.

Hi, I'm getting the same as Henrik- Windows 8.1, brand new Wacom Pro Small, latest driver (6.3.13w3) - with Windows Ink off, Lightroom CC 2015 sliders are smooth and responsive, but with no pen pressure.  Enabling Windows Ink gives the pen pressure but all sliders are sluggish.  You have to drag the slider, for a moment or two nothing happens, then the slider jumps too much.  Very frustrating, any help appreciated.
