They used to be sorted alphabetically. In version 7.3 the order is random

This was fixed a couple of years ago  You may need to update Lightroom.

Thanks John I can confirm running the Fix Presets plugin corrects the sort order problem permanently...at least for now. Let's just hope Adobe doesn't break it again in a future update!

I haven't been able to reproduce the sorting problems in LR 8.3.1, testing imported presets, creating new presetings, moving presets into groups, renaming presets, presets manipulated by Camera Raw, and presets with names containing numbers.

Previous versions of LR may have left your presets inconsistently sorted, and LR 8.3.1 won't fix that.  But you can fix it by running the Fix Ordering command of the free Fix Presets plugin.

I'm using John Eliis' Fix Presets plugin, which is quick, easy to use, and free. Renaming presets after creating them seems like a kludge. Status still shows as 'In Progress' so I assume this will be fixed correct?

Rikk, I'm still seeing this issue in LR 8.0 when creating new presets. They appear at the bottom of the list. When can we expect an update to correct this issue?

Thanks John. I downloaded the latest v1.6 Fix Presets plugin update, which corrected the above mentioned "new preset" sort order. This should work for others with similar preset sorting issues.

I hope Adobe just fixes what they broke in the name of "improvements".
It is well past the time to stop introducing new "features & enhancements" and just fix the software.

As a workaround while awaiting a fix, the free Fix Presets plugin will correct the sorting of your presets.
