P: Edit In External Editor does not work/function

I can not send images from LR4 to any external editor via Photo>Edit In. My system is Mac OS 10.7.3. Using the Edit In command fails to open the external editor and no error message results. This occurs whether the images have the 2012 Process Version applied or not. My external editors are primarily PSE10 and Nik Silver Efex Pro 2.0. This is an important part of my workflow.

I have reinstalled PSE10 and updated to the newest version of Silver Efex Pro.

Hi Emily, that's correct. We don't like it either. The team is working very hard on this and several other issues. As Julie states, we need to run these fixes changes through the ringer to make sure the fixes are complete and won't cause other problems. While I appreciate that it's torture waiting, the team wants to make sure they're addressing the issues that are most important to users, and making sure the fixes are safe. Cheers.

Hi Jeffrey,
Thank you so much for responding. It really helps to get the occasional update even if the update is to say "no change." We're all reading each others' comments (and frustrations), day after day, so hearing from you brings us back into balance. I'm sure you aren't enjoying this either.
Thanks again, Jeffrey.

Hi Emily, sorry if that came off as snippy, I was just directing Scruffyme to the answer to their question since it looked like it was overlooked. Julie did say she was targeting two weeks, and I believe from talking with her late last week that they are still on target for that - provided something unexpected doesn't come up. Julie will update the thread if that guidance needs to be modified. We appreciate your patience.

Soon- It's been soon for weeks - no updates

Does two weeks mean will will have a fix in 2 days from today?

One of the fixes was asking people to use a beta version of CS6. Trust my deliverable to a beta version when the production version of LR4 does not work.
Hmmm.

Does this mean that only CS6 will work with LR4 and if you want to use PS with LR 4 that you will have to upgrade?

Oh my dear, being snippy definitely is NOT the way to handle all your loyal but frustrated customers. One entry two weeks ago about a theoretical release date at the top of a very long string isn't the way to build customer confidence. "I told you already" sounds more like a bad-tempered child than a multimillion-dollar company. "Chief Customer Advocate"? Really?

Please read the official comment at the top. It states the targeted release schedule of a fix.

I tried installing the public beta of PS6 but that didn't fix the problem on the Mac. I have access to two WIN machines and two Macs and the software is not launching the nik software on the Macs whereas it is launching on the WIN machines because they have CS4 on them. It is very frustrating to see that this bug was not in the beta version (which we never downloaded so can't go back to) and is in the public (purchased) releases of LR4. Can you advise a release date for this fix as very expensive software can't be used from LR 4 because of this. Very frustrated as it also messed up the LR3 installation on the Macs as we chose to keep LR3 on the mac airbook just in case....Have Lion 10.7.3 and all other requirements to load LR and the Nik software Complete Collection Ultimate.

Thanks,

Hello Adobe

Can you post an update on this issue on your website. There is nothing to indicate when this issue will likely be fixed. Knowing is
better than not knowing because then people can plan their work. It would be very kind of you to assist in this regard. It would mak
e you a good corporate citizen. And can those who purchased Lightroom 4 and have had to wait to use the product correctly expect a s
light rebate for their frustration. This too would make you a good corporate citizen and restore faith in your products.

Thanks kindly.

Why is it so difficult to get a progress report? And Adobe is still selling LR4? Seriously?
The "work-arounds" don't "work" for everyone. Many of us don't have LR3 to fall back on, and down-loading a HUGE program that we don't need and may not have space or time for is oddly interesting but not particularly practical. I'd be happy with a simple update, folks.
