P: Edit In External Editor does not work/function

I can not send images from LR4 to any external editor via Photo>Edit In. My system is Mac OS 10.7.3. Using the Edit In command fails to open the external editor and no error message results. This occurs whether the images have the 2012 Process Version applied or not. My external editors are primarily PSE10 and Nik Silver Efex Pro 2.0. This is an important part of my workflow.

I have reinstalled PSE10 and updated to the newest version of Silver Efex Pro.

Lightroom 4.1 is now available on Adobe Labs:

Includes a fix for this issue, plus several other top issues and includes 5D Mk III support:

Great we are getting an update this week, is there any chance we can get an update on the fixes that will be included?

Cheers

Hey guys,

I'm not sure how to say it any different than Julie. She said her target was two weeks, so that'd mean something by the end of Thursday or early morning Friday (March 29/30) depending on your timezone. If that changes, we will certainly let everyone know.

Thanks for you patience and we apologize for letting this slip out.

would be interesting to see the test scripts and results for LR4. I would have thought that "edit in" should be pretty high up on the schedule. Got to raise some concerns about the effectiveness of the testing and the accountability of the testing manager responsible. Extract from his/her CV ..."personally responsible for failed testing programme for major consumer image editing application. Can provide many letters demonstrating customer response to my work."

Are we allowed to know the "several other issues", Adobe?

I have several bugs/strange behaviors related to the External Editor.
For example:
- if you say 'cancel' in the plugin Editor you come back in Lightroom4 and there is a tif-file
- post editing a tif-file is in many cases not possible
- after returning to Lightroom4 sometimes some edit-functions are not working any more, even on other photos. You have to quit and restart Lightroom4.

Anyway, I'm curious about the other issues that are going to be solved within 2 days.

Paul.

I think we are all confused Renea. I was considering buying LR4 so downloaded the trial but, as with you, I find it doesn't do what it is supposed to do - ie it isn't fit for purpose. Adobe have taken money off many people (like you) and have not delivered what you have paid for, but no talk of refund or compensation. We, as consumers, are expected to try a variety of different workarounds and Adobe can't even commit to a date when they will have their bug-ridden code updated. If the company that I work for treated our customers in this way we would deserve to lose our contracts. Not very professional or customer focussed of this global company. Rant over.....

Dear Adobe People, I did see the target date but to be honest I know that it is likely with testing etc that the target date will move so if you could tell us what kind of revised dating you are thinking of that would help.

Thanks!

Can we please get a date? I have loaded cs5 on my MAC. My Photoshop Elements opens, but it does not open the photo i was working in. Am I missing something? I am new to the PS family and bought Photoshop Elements Premeire 10 and LR 4 at the same time a week ago. In the meantime, I had already used my trial of cs5 when i was trying to decide on which i should buy and uninstalled. Do i need plug-ins to make it work? I am so confused.

Can we have a definitive date from Adobe when this will be resolved please? The official update said, "My goal is to make this happen within the next two weeks" and that was 12 days ago. Is this still on track - ie will there be a release in 2 days? If not why not and what is the expected release date?
