P: Edit In External Editor does not work/function

I can not send images from LR4 to any external editor via Photo>Edit In. My system is Mac OS 10.7.3. Using the Edit In command fails to open the external editor and no error message results. This occurs whether the images have the 2012 Process Version applied or not. My external editors are primarily PSE10 and Nik Silver Efex Pro 2.0. This is an important part of my workflow.

I have reinstalled PSE10 and updated to the newest version of Silver Efex Pro.

You know, I was trialling LR4 with a view to purchasing it. You have just persuaded me to switch a different package. Shame as I have been a loyal Adobe user for years.

Well done again Adobe. Do you want a new Test and Release Manager? I know a good candidate who can do a much better job than your current incumbent and at probably half the pay....

Interesting! I can report at least one successful use of 4.1 RC. I can now use Neat Image as an "Edit in," just as I could in beta (but couldn't in the released version of 4.0). Windows 7 x64.

For others looking at my "circumstances," I decided against the relatively simply registry fix because I wasn't confident that a future upgrade would know what to do with it. I also didn't install any of the trial versions of Photoshop or Elements. In short, I just "waited" for the fix. In this case, the fix seems to work for me. Sorry others continue to have problems.

I have had the same experience as Penne.
Running LR4 on Mac 10.7.3
Edit wasn't working with Nik software, downloaded PS5.1 and it was working. Then the centre part of the menu disappeared when I click on Edit it so I see

Edit in Photoshop
Edit in Viveza 2
A Line
Open as smart object in Photoshop

The list of plugins disappeared.
LR4.1RC has not corrected this.
I can edit using Nik software but I have to go to login preferences to change which program I use.
Very disappointed.

Just installed 4.1RC on Imac with 10.7.3 *gb ram. Removed CS5 Trial and only option to edit in is a copy with Lightroom changes applied. Edit a copy and edit original are greyed out no matter what the file type. (jpg or dng)

The fix is not working on the Mac. If you have CS5 Trial installed do not remove it until Adobe fixes this mess.

Have tried RC1 unloading completely and reloading Nik colorefex Pro 4 and it doesn't work on a macbook Air that meets all the specs. Same for other members of the Nik family - just see edit in showing no external editor selected.

Same here. Ik cannot see my NIK plugins.
Is there something more we need to do to get it working?
Can somebody from Adobe give some instructions?

Btw. I'm on a Mac with everything the latest version. I did install the trial version of Photoshop, but that didn't help me.

So let me get this straight. The fix to a production problem is a beta.

Just uploaded and installed 4.1

When I try to edit a 5dMKII raw file (22mb) in PS5.1
It opens up PS5.1 and the photoshop hangs for almost 3 minutes before opening file.
This happens the first time LR$.1 is opened. If you leave it open subsequent edits take 15 seconds to open.
Also does not give option to edit a copy or any other options. Opens the Original in PS5.1

Downloaded this but does not solve the problem! Still can not "edit in" Elements in LR 4. Not even mentioning NIK plug ins!

This is a release candidate, it is not 4.1 but something like 4.1.beta.

Do I get this right?
