P: Edit In External Editor does not work/function

I can not send images from LR4 to any external editor via Photo>Edit In. My system is Mac OS 10.7.3. Using the Edit In command fails to open the external editor and no error message results. This occurs whether the images have the 2012 Process Version applied or not. My external editors are primarily PSE10 and Nik Silver Efex Pro 2.0. This is an important part of my workflow.

I have reinstalled PSE10 and updated to the newest version of Silver Efex Pro.

Over two weeks and no fix from Adobe.

Not only is the external edit function inoperative, LR4 is many times slower and totally unusable for image processing even on an iMac 27! Worse, the refunds department call back system had me on line for nearly an hour waiting and never picked up. Who ever beta tested this was not a photographer and this means an entire marketplace of photographers will think twice before buying another Adobe upgrade. Classic case of shareholder profit motive overtaking customer satisfaction. So, when the refund department awakes from its 1000 year sleep, I'd like a refund please. Thanks Adobe!

Is the new version, 4.1, coming next week?

Hi Nicolai,

Downloading the trial of Photoshop will allow you to send images to third party external editors, not just Photoshop. Give it a try.

This is not only not working to PhotoShop, I use the fuction to transfer pics to Portrait Professional and I get the same error. So for me downloading a trial of Photoshop would not solve it.

For now I need to export manually, open, edit, re-import - time consuming!

Hope this is solved in a service pack to LR 4 soon.

Unfortunately...
I"m very disappointed from Adobe this time - the guy above is right - we should get our money back, since now we actually do the testing of the LR4 BETA.
In regards of PS CS6 beta, I also don't use it for serious work, since there are few changes and I may feel confused for a moment which one is where (which I can't afford).
But every time I have a spare minute I like to play with it and learn it's new features. If someone is like me, then this is pretty good solution to have all your Nik's plugins working again.

I am reluctant to use a beta for production work. My deliverables have a very short turnaround and I cannot afford to take the chance. I thought with LR that once it was out of beta I would be OK. Boy was I wrong.

I just installed Photoshop CS6 beta and all plugins are working perfectly.

why not just give us our money back as payment for beta testing your product. Obviously it was not ready for production use.
Support is useless.
Right now LR is painfully slow. Extra files take up too much disk space. Which I then have to take time to go back and delete.
Awkward to do further editing in PS.

My only option is to uninstall it and reinstall the previous version.
Love paying for a product that I cannot use.

External edit function in Nik and Topaz malfunctioing in LR4 - very disappointing and frustrating this was overlooked. Or was it overlooked?
