P: Edit In External Editor does not work/function

I can not send images from LR4 to any external editor via Photo>Edit In. My system is Mac OS 10.7.3. Using the Edit In command fails to open the external editor and no error message results. This occurs whether the images have the 2012 Process Version applied or not. My external editors are primarily PSE10 and Nik Silver Efex Pro 2.0. This is an important part of my workflow.

I have reinstalled PSE10 and updated to the newest version of Silver Efex Pro.

Running Windows 7 and I've got this problem too.

I implemented the registry 'fix' JustMe06 suggested way above and I can now use Nik plugins with no issues.

Great Job JustMe06!!!!

Been running cs5 and LR 3 with no problems
Upgraded to LR4 now if I try to edit in PS it says I need raw 7.0
if i ignore and open in PS - PS hangs
If I use LR option it Automatically creates a tiff file
When I save as, It creates a third file.
Imaging doing this for 100- 22MB files
Tried raw 6.7 beta no change

I have a Mac, using Snow Leopard. Just purchased Lightroom 4 and the external editing does not function. No error message. Just nothing. In Lightroom 3, I had no problems. Adobe said they are working on fixing this. Does anyone with a Mac have a more immediate solution other than tearing my hair out.

System MAC OS 10.7

To add to my frustration I bought LR3 late Jan and was going to wait. Because I bought it when I did to start getting familiar with it I had to pay to upgrade to 4 by the same of a week.

I can understand that Adobe could not test LR4 on all platforms, hardware, and with 3rd party apps and issues are going to happen. But not working with their own software especially for something as common as launching another editor sort of baffles me. But there are also bigger things in life to worry about so I'll get over it. But I would like to see a solution soon. I don't like to install things are don't want or even trial versions because there are ussually issues (performance and OS errors) that I try to avoid.

Unfortunately, you are correct just having Elements 10 installed does NOT solve the problem! I had to go through the long and tedious CS5 download to get the workflow back! I think Adobe should allow us to activate that download since it was forced on us by their incompetence!
