P: Edit In External Editor does not work/function

I can not send images from LR4 to any external editor via Photo>Edit In. My system is Mac OS 10.7.3. Using the Edit In command fails to open the external editor and no error message results. This occurs whether the images have the 2012 Process Version applied or not. My external editors are primarily PSE10 and Nik Silver Efex Pro 2.0. This is an important part of my workflow.

I have reinstalled PSE10 and updated to the newest version of Silver Efex Pro.

Adobe says they should have the prob fixed in a couple of weeks. The CS5 can be downloaded and installed as a trial for 30 days. You don't have to use the program at all, just install it. That is what I did.

i downloaded the trial version of CS5 onto my mac and the plugins are now working. But i notice that when using the adjustment brush there is quite a delay and it looks like the screen is refreshing in that ti goes black comes back on and all the develop sliders are greyed out then come back.

anyone else seen this?

Downloading either Photoshop Elements 10 or Photoshop CS5,,,full or trial versions finally got the LR4 External Edit function working for me. I'm running Windows 7. Hope this helps

Smart move judging from this thread. I can be added to the growing list of Mac users unable to edit using any plug-ins. They're aren't in my menu and I don't get any error messages. Nothing happens at all.

I have experienced the exact same thing--which is, somewhat of a relief, at least. Glad Adobe is fixing, soon!

That only fixes one problem. I have many more. Help adobe!!! When will we get an lr4 update!!!

Downloading the trial version of CS5 worked for me. The Topaz Plug-ins are now accessible with the "edit in" command. Seems like a reasonable containment as long as you have enough harddrive space. Apparently the fix won't expire with the trial offer either.

Julie, I clearly understand that it's Adobe's decision, but I think that it would be better to release something like 4.0.1 as it was done for 3.4 when bugs were found and fixed in 3.4.1.
Because otherwise Lightroom and CameraRaw versions will be out of sync again...

I have a MAC - Snow Leopard, CS5, LR 4 - New NIK plug ins, - NiK plug ins are working perfect. But I can't take a DNG file With LR updates directly to CS5 -
These are brand new photos i just shot past weekend. I have tried to have CS5 open first. No help. So, to get the photo to CS5 with LR adjustments - i have to open them in any NIK plug in - create a .tiff file, then go to CS 5 - that's crazy. but, only way i can get the photo to CS5 - i even tried opening as a smart object no help.

Biggest problem - I have deleted photos - I mark them with an X - go to menu - Photos purge photos.. they are in my trash can
i REMOVE the related folder

next time i open LR 4

the photos are back again.. what is going on?????

and, the response time to the sliders, changing modules etc.. i have to run LR 4, with every other app down, email, safari, etc... Help.
